Personal Statement:

Since 2004, I have been dedicated to the behavioral health field and assisting my clients break through the obstacles that seem to be holding them back in life. Life's too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. Let me help you learn and develop realistic and practical ways to handle the issues that are standing in the way of your goals. Reach out today to see how I may be able to help you in your journey..

Counseling Philosophy:

I maintain an eclectic therapeutic approach to the counseling process as each individual's concerns are specific and unique to their lived experiences.  I use evidence based treatment approaches to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals by utilizing a combination of different modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Reality Therapy (RT), Person (or Client) Centered Therapy,  along with with behavioral management techniques, Crisis Intervention strategies and Mindfulness-based components.  Furthermore, I pride myself on my ability to "be a voice'' through advocacy, access to community resources and networking with other local professionals and agencies within Bexar county and the surrounding areas including Kendall, Atascosa and Medina counties.

I am committed to providing my clients with the highest quality of face-to -face and virtual services.  This hybrid private practice model allows me the convenience to meet each client's comfortability level. I strive to create a warm, welcoming experience by offering two different appointment options: in-person, at my physical office location (in San Antonio, Texas) and  through virtual sessions utilizing a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform where we can meet "online" safely and securely dependent upon appropriateness of care, technology  requirements and scheduling availability.

Experience:

I have been working in the behavioral health field since 2004, with strong ties to local agencies, court systems, probation, juvenile justice & school districts with extensive background experience in community mental health, case management, crisis response & intervention, substance abuse, residential treatment, insurance billing, professional networking & advocacy.

I offer counseling services for children, adolescents, adults & families seeking guidance with presenting concerns related to anxiety, depression, grief, trauma & mood incongruence, occupational/educational/relational stressors, behavioral & psychological distress, inter/intrapersonal conflicts, gender identity & circumstantial life transitions. In addition, I work with people in a multitude of settings, with specific focus within the following populations:  military families, At-Risk" youth, including transgender youth,  emerging adults (ages 18-24) and adult individuals (age 18-64).   Additionally, I have extensive training in the following areas: Gender Affirming Care, Trauma Informed Care, Anxiety Treatment Modalities  & Child/Adolescent counseling (middle/high school age children).

More recently, I have had a more direct approach in assisting many clients with learning new or alternative coping strategies, empowering boundary building skills & developing consistent, yet practical self-care routines that may effectively & efficiently support their individual selves successfully despite ongoing current, yet often conflicting societal issues and pressures that are directly related to the collective uncertainty amongst humanity's ideals about the "new normal," post pandemic life and social justice issues by helping to explore ways to move forward with confidence and at a pace unique to one's comfortability level.
