Child and Adolescent Therapy

Childhood and teenage years are filled with many changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviors. It is a time of constant transition. Sometimes challenges arise that disrupt the developmental path. Through the safety and trust established with one's counselor, children and teens learn to identify the causes of their distress, to identify and express their emotions, to ask for help when needed and to improve their problem-solving abilities.

I seek to create an environment in which your child or teen feels safe, protected and appreciated. We then work to reduce the distress and increase the coping skills of your child, while at the same time identify their strengths and growth areas without judgement so that they may thrive in their environments.

Individual therapy can help your child or teen with:

  • Balancing Tasks

  • Confidence

  • Substance Misuse

  • Academic Problems

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Perfectionism

  • Self-Care

  • Relationship/Peer Conflict

  • Trauma

  • Body Image Issues/Eating Disorders

  • Bullying

  • Self-Injurious Behavior

  • Grief

  • Behavioral Concerns

  • Gender Identity, Expression and Sexuality - I work with all sexual orientations and gender identities.
